The Wenceslas Square in located in Prague, Czech Republic. It is one of the two main squares in
Prague. Therefore, it is a popular place
for visitors to stay. It lies in the
center of New Town. Despite the
assumption from the name, the area is historical and it was laid out by Charles
IV in 1348. The Square is actually a
boulevard and measures 750m long and 60m wide and was originally laid out as
the Prague horse marked around 650 years ago.
There are many attractions
including many hotels, apartments, restaurants, bars, clubs, and a large array
of many local in international shops. It
is said to be the entertainment and nightlife center of Prague, and also its
main shopping district.
There is a large amount of history in the Wenceslas Square for tourists
and visitors as it is easily walkable being in the city center. It has been a large parade ground for many
types of political parties and organizations: from anti-communist uprisings to
national sporting achievements to celebrations.
It is where Czech’s “come to let off steam”. It can hold up to 400,000 people.
Attractions/Geography:
- A statue of St. Wenceslas on his horse cuts a
striking figure is located at the top of the Wenceslas Square

- Two plaques in memory of those killed during the
communist era is located at the front of St. Wenceslas.

St. Wenceslas
