The Kunsthof- Passage is tucked away in a student district
in Dresden, Germany. It is a long series
of both beautiful buildings and courtyards.
These buildings and courtyards include a farm collective and many shops
and many cafes.
Walking through the buildings and courtyards is a enduring
surprise, the Court of Water. Gutters, metal pipes, funnels, and many other
objects play music when the rain comes down and through the objects. It was crafted by architect Heike
Bottcher. He called this piece of
musical art a Rube-Goldberg-type contraption.
Though Bottcher’s is probably the most fun of installation,
there are many more artistic facades in the Kunshof Passage. These include the Court of Mythical Creature and the Court of Metamorephosis.
The whole piece screams a fun, artist community, and it is
well worth the visit if in Dresden.
