The Thomaskirche
(St. Thomas Church) is a Lutheran church in Leipzig,
Germany.
St. Thomas Church is one of the two “houses of worship” in
Leipzig, Germany’s city centers. St.
Thomas is home to many groups and people, including the St. Thomas Boys choir. The
St. Thomas Boys Choir has been singing at the church for the last 800 years.
It is a great place of musical creativity and it also is the
home to the remains of St. Thomas Cantor, Johann Sebastian Bach.

This church dates back to the 12th century, and
it was in 1409 that the University of Leipzig was founded. The church had the form of late Gothic hall
church from the years of 1492- 1496. Martin
Luther preached the implementation of the Reformation in 1539 at St. Thomas
Church.
Visitors to this day, from all around the world come to
Leipzig, Germany to participate in the church services, listen to the St.
Thomas Boys Choir, and enjoy concerts and organ music frequently.
